The temperature control valve core is a critical temperature regulation component within the lubrication system of screw-type air compressors. Its primary function is to stabilize the discharge temperature of the compressor rotor within a preset range by adjusting the proportion of lubricating oil flowing through the oil cooler, thereby ensuring efficient and safe equipment operation.
Working Principle: The thermostatic valve core operates based on the principle of thermal expansion and contraction. Its internal temperature-sensing element (e.g., a thermowell) expands or contracts with changes in lubricating oil temperature, driving the valve core to move and regulate the opening and closing of oil passages between the valve body and housing. The specific process involves: When lubricant temperature falls below the action value (typically 70-85°C), the valve core closes the bypass channel, allowing lubricant to return directly to the host for rapid preheating. When temperature exceeds the action value, the valve core opens the bypass channel, directing a portion of the lubricant through the oil cooler for cooling. The cooled lubricant then mixes with the main flow before returning to the host, ensuring constant temperature.
Common Failures and Maintenance: Frequent issues include valve core sticking, damage, or incomplete closure, potentially causing unit thermal shutdowns or lubricant temperature drops that lead to water separation or oil emulsification. Maintenance requires regular inspection of valve core responsiveness, cleaning internal contaminants, and strictly following the operation manual during installation or replacement. Avoid using unfiltered lubricant to minimize the risk of contaminant buildup.
